    Olympics - waste of time

So, who's planning on watching the olympics?  Do you care about the athletes and their 'personal stories'?  What about the athletes from other countries?  Do their stories make the events better or worse?

Are you going to watch on tv or via online (after the events have been broadcast - in the case of events that were broadcast)?  Are you going to tell your friends/co-workers/family "Don't tell me what happened during the fencing matches - I need to watch it first"?

Are you influenced (in a I'll-spend-my-money-kinda-way) as a result of the carpet-bombing of ads?  Will you apply for a Visa card instead of a MasterCard because Visa is the 'official' (as in they paid the most money) credit card?

Me, I'll be ignoring all the nbc stuff once the ring games come on.  Granted, I've doing so for a while now (since they put extra text on L&O) so it's not that difficult.  In a way, I wish the rings were on during the new season then I'd have one less station to worry about.

Maybe in other countries it's not like this, but here in the usa, to me the rings are just another sporting event and I tune those out already.   Maybe the Chinese will see their athletes in prime-time (or maybe the country is going to shut down for two weeks) and without all the commercials we have to put up with.  But us, no, we have to have promos for the today show and new series that will start in Sept.  and of course all the sugar water and credit card and camera and whatnot commercials thrown in our face 24/7.

I will do my best to try and remember to post the winning results of some events.
